Uncorrupted Jesus – 8-5-22

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 NKJV

RELATIONSHIP:

Do you already have a relationship with a powerful God who cares about your every need because He loves you? Did you know my God can communicate with you and protect you – He has a plan for you to prosper if you just submit to His will and let His plan play out in your life!!! God wants a relationship with you and has already made a plan for your life. He loves you so much He sent His son to this world, to die as a sacrifice for your sins and rise from death with victory over sin and the ability to have a personal relationship with you.

Do you want to know truth? Be able to discern lies? Know how to figure it all out in these confusing times and have peace? The Bible says Jesus is the truth. I have experienced it and it has changed my life. I was once a hot mess of sin, promiscuity, drug and alcohol use and so much more. But I was lost and when I could not find my way, or find a truth, I numbed it with bad choses. When I found Jesus, and truth – I found peace and deliverance from those things.

If you want a relationship with God without truth you will get the counterfeit, hypocritical Christianity that has kept some of you away for too long. You need truth and relationship. You need to be honest with yourself and God (including honest repentance) and God will reveal truth to you. It becomes the two way, interaction that your relationship with God is built on. This is why Jesus is called the truth, because he is our only way to the Father.

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10 NIV
Here is a prayer for you to pray:
Jesus, I believe you are the way, the truth, the life, and the only way to the Father. I believe you are the son of God, you came to Earth and lived. That you died on the cross as a sacrifice for my sins, and rose again so that I may be saved from my sins and be able to get to know you. I declare: Jesus, you are Lord!
Therefore, I confess that I am a sinner and I ask that you forgive me of my sins and come into my life. Help me to turn away from my sins and transform me into what you have lovingly created me to be. Help me through a real personal relationship grow and accept your will for my life – that I may live in your blessings. Please walk with me, and talk with me – I accept a relationship with you and with our Father God, through you. In the name of Jesus I pray ~ Amen

BIBLE READING:

Dear Heavenly Father – Please give us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of who you are, who Jesus is, and who the Holy Spirit is. Open the eyes of our understanding, please, so we may know the hope of our calling and the vast sovereignty and power of the grace of the cross. Please do not let us miss out on what you want and need from us today. Lord, I pray that your word prepares us and not scares us! We forbid the works and influences of fear over your word and our sound mind. And please keep us and bless us and shine your face upon us and pour out grace over us and give us peace! And we pray for the peace of Jerusalem! Thank you! – In Jesus name we pray, Amen

Today’s reading is the Book of Galatians chapter 2 (embedded below for your convenience in the NKJV).

Defending the Gospel

Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me. And I went up [a]by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain. Yet not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised. And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage), to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

But from those who seemed to be something—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God [b]shows personal favoritism to no man—for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me. But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter (for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles), and when James, [c]Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. 10 They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do.

No Return to the Law

11 Now when [d]Peter had come to Antioch, I [e]withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; 12 for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing [f]those who were of the circumcision. 13 And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.

14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, [g]why do you compel Gentiles to live as [h]Jews? 15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, 16 knowing that a man is not [i]justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

17 “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! 18 For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. 19 For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died [j]in vain.”

Romans 8:1

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”

STUDY/DEVOTIONAL:

1 Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me. And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain. Yet not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.”

Welcome back to Galatians and Paul’s defense of the Gospel. The enemy’s attack on the very core truth of this all began the day he learned that Jesus was on Earth. The Old Testament stories did not need the same level of a smear campaign as the story of Jesus need – because there is no power in the name of Moses, no power in the name of Elijah, and no power in the name of David.
But the NAME of JESUS shall cause every knee to bow. Satan needed to quench this new and mighty weapon! Then Jesus added His self sacrificed blood – to wash sins. And satan was already angry enough that he could not get atonement for his sin – and now this, complete forgiveness?!?!

Atonement is sweeping the dirt under the carpet. It is still there, but covered and out of sight. Forgiveness is a bath – throw us in the washing machine and we come out clean without spot, stains or any dirt.  This is powerful! So of course the first century church had to deal with a huge attack on it.

I’d love to say they won… but the battle still rages for poison this truth. Then they preached Jesus and circumcision. Now we preach Jesus and creationism, Jesus and prolife, Jesus and anti-vax, Jesus and denomination, Jesus and self help, Jesus and …
But the Bible says we can only be saved by Jesus. There is NO AND. That is what Paul is fighting against. Adding to the scriptures, to the message, and to the whole thing.

I got saved (justified) and when I experienced that grace it changed me. And I was compelled to do the sanctification work. I studied the word, it changed my heart which lead to a change in dressing, a change in behaving, and a change in friends. I spent more time with God. He worked me through surrendering more and more areas of my life. But today, I am not any more saved than the first day when I experienced grace.
The pastor of the local church is not more saved, neither are the deacons, elders, worship leaders, or cleaning crew. We are all at different points in our sanctification process, but that is a daily things of either you are walking this out or you are not. Some days some people just do not read of pray because they want a break and are not sanctified – but they are still saved.
You can be completely wrong about everything you believe and think about the Bible and still be saved. You can be completely right about the Bible and sanctification knowledge and never experience justification! And you can lose your salvation – lose you justification. This is why it is so important to hold onto it and press in and develop a real relationship with God through Jesus – so He can guide you.

You can continue in sin, let grace abound, and still be saved. That is a tough pill to swallow when we see someone living in blatant sin, and something we are people see as sin. But we fail to see the areas of our lives that we refuse to surrender to God as sin. And it is sin and rebellion to not surrender all (thank you Jesus for showing us these things slowly and growing us through it – but they are sins none the less).

It is important not to muddy up this study. We, humans, have a hard time separating salvation / justification from sanctification. But we must! Because Paul is only speaking of salvation / justification.

And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage), to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

Back in the day in which this was written, the only way to get circumcised was through the temple. Besides being an attack from the enemy on truth – this was a political power play. Once circumcised, they had their claws in you and had control over you – you were in their system and had to bring a sacrifice. But we do not preach Jesus and sacrifice; we preach Jesus.

The Christians are more and more censored on social media. My accounts have been suppresses, and jailed multiple times. I now avoid teaching there as God gave me this platform. When God gave me this he told me to protect the social media for the business (and I did not even have one nor did I know what he was going to do)! Someday I will be permitted to speak boldly there, but every time I even make small mention I am banded (and I am sure God permits it because I stepped out of line of what He told me for me).
My point is = that the very truth and core of all we believe (which is Jesus) is still under attack and still in need of defending and this book is valuable and relevant.

But from those who seemed to be something—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to no man—for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me.”

“God shows personal favoritism to no man” – But I am God favorite! The way He loves me makes me feel and know I am! And the problem is in my understanding of LOVE. Love does make you feel extremely special – which is amazing! But we all ALL his loved ones. Yes, all of us feel special in His arms. You see this, THIS, is why the disciples fought with each other even through the last supper – about who was the greatest. Because real supernatural, unearthly and uncorrupted love makes us feel like we are special and the favorite and the best.
And if we do not grasp that there are no favorites, then we fill with pride and fall.
Early in my walk, I felt God’s love for the first time and all these amazing things were happening to me, so I told a fellow believer I was in awe and felt like God’s favorite. They cut me down with this verse. Took a while to recover. God was teaching me love – and I was hit in the face with a brick. I was stuck in a conflict between God loving me like I was His favorite and being told I was no one and didn’t matter.
So I must then clarify for all of you – You do matter to God, you are NOT just one face lost in a sea of faces. He wants to have a unique and special relationship with you and make you feel like you are special and loved and even a favorite. That is what love does. And He has enough love to do the same for each of us with no regard for the other. I have how corrupted love has become. Stay humble and go ahead and be His favorite. You are his favorite you – you are also the one and only you – and his favorite you none the less. It is hard enough to accept and be loved without more corruption getting in the way.

But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter (for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles), and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. 10 They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do.”

So, we have these self-proclaimed important people questioning Paul and if he can even preach this sacred truth, the very truth they are trying to corrupt. And Paul, who received his assignment from Jesus Himself in a supernatural encounter, was also confirmed by and sent out by the apostles to preach the word – is able to defend his preaching. But how do we defend the utter insanity of the arguments complexities? The fact that they corrupt it AND claim Paul cannot preach it. Because it is so crazy – Paul never even addresses it. Something we should keep in mind when being goaded on social media.

Paul explains a difficult experience with the corruption which had also corrupted some of the apostles for a moment. Paul caught it and lovingly corrected them. They received it and learned.

11 Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; 12 for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. 13 And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.

The real heart of this matter was rabbinical law vs Torah law. Jesus worked with Peter on this, as we saw in the gospels. Peter, we believe, attended Hebrew school like a good Jewish child – and he learned all the things. He just did not seem to learn what of those things were scripture, and what were manmade rules. In the Torah, Jews were to accept the foreigner – in rabbinical law they could not eat with them. Peter and Barnabas seemed to know it was ok to eat with gentiles, but when others came, they questioned what was right, and were not sure they wanted to make that stand in front of other who may know the Torah Law better. Peter was just a fisherman, a simple man. It must have made the gentiles feel horrible.

How does this fit as an example of corrupting the truth of the salvation message? How welcomed into God’s kingdom will you feel if you are an outcast to those very people preaching Jesus. Moreover, much like we cannot preach Jesus AND circumcision, we cannot preach Jesus and rabbinical Law. Jesus only Jesus is our salvation. Jesus is the only way.

14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews?”

Quick note – we see in other places throughout scriptures that Paul and Peter never forsook behaving and living as a Jew. That was their covenant with God. Gentiles have a new covenant and do not come under the old. Jesus fulfilled the atonement law but not the other clauses that were part of their covenant. They did not eat pig with the pagans. That is not what Paul means here.
Paul means they no longer go to temple to bring sacrifices and now live free from the atonement law.

15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, 16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

Can we all agree with Paul, the law, aka atonement law, didn’t work? The civil law (how to manage the government and get along) worked. The dietary Law, for sanctification and being set apart as a peculiar people (including keeping the Sabbath) worked. But the atonement law did not – and not because God was wrong. Man learned the wrong lesson. God was trying to give a visual example – sin equals death. God showed them as they raised a sheep and loved it, then watched it killed, because you couldn’t live free from sin. The death and blood and heartache of it was supposed to make you want to live sinless, to save the sheep.

Humanity needed Jesus! We would never have seen Jesus as a sacrifice – as the lamb – or understand that his blood had to be shed to forgive us of our sin. Or even then be able to go that one step further to understanding he set us free from sin, while before we were trapped unable to stop sinning even if we wanted to and as always needed one more lamb. Now we need no other – just Jesus. Simply Jesus. Preach Jesus!

17 “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! 18 For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. 19 For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

And we could literally jump over to our study of Romans (back at the end of April and into May) and really look into these last few verses. They are good.
But hopefully you went through the activities of dying to self and law and surrendering completely to God back when we studied them. If not – go back and go through it. It is an important step in ever Christian’s relationship with God.

21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”

In proper pauline sarcasm he asks if we would set aside grace and come back under the law. Forsaking the work of the cross and considering it all for nothing. Obviously not.

And finally, we have the opposite and very old saying: “I am under grace and not under law”. I have heard people in the church say it – have you?

But according to Romans, we are under the law of faith and the Law of faith replaced the law of atonement. Why are these terms not used today? Because we like to not be pushed to repent from additional sins after our first “please forgive me”. It is uncomfortable to die to self and to sin. I am sure it was uncomfortable on the cross for Jesus as well.  I am sure his beatings were not so comfortable either. Lest we forget and get complacent.

Getting humble and repenting is a daily thing! It is in the very prayer Jesus taught His disciples how to pray with. Let us be cautious not to take advantage of grace and in doing so have the same effect of causing Jesus to have died in vain.

Have a blessed weekend. Feel free to join us for some wisdom reading – we will be beginning the book of Ecclesiastes. Usually our weekend reading has no discussion or study. But I am adding a small commentary at the top. I am unsure if I will for the whole book or not, but I am staring it off that way. They are just small personal application antidotes to help you see how to apply a book that is greatly misunderstood.
And come back on Monday for more from the book of Galatians.

Thank you for reading in 2022 – a Year of Wisdom and Salvation
May the God of peace keep you and bless you. May you stay focused on Christ and covered in grace.

  1. “Baptized into Christ we put on Christ; no more Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female, but in Christ we are one with the Father and Son” Galatians 3:27-28. Co-heirs with Christ when we mature in Christ, no longer children or slaves (Galatians 4:1-19) but mature “brides” when Christ dwells, lives, abides and remains in us, to the glory of God our Abba Father! It took me so long to get the “religion” of men out of me so Christ could live in me, that I can never go back to the bondage, the heavy yoke that man-made religions and world religions put on people to maintain control of them, when by the grace of God, it is the Holy Spirit Who we yield to, led by the Spirit of God as sons of Abba Father through Jesus the Christ (Romans 8:14-15). I am so thankful to no longer be under the law of sin and death but under the law of the Spirit of Life!
