God is Pouring out His Spirit
“I watched till thrones were put in place, And the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, And the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, Its wheels a burning fire; A fiery stream issued And came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, And the books were opened.” Daniel 7:9-10 NKJV
Lord please give revelation to us as we read today!
Glory to the Holy One! We have started our day with an image of our father! We could run all the parallels with Ezekiel’s vision, someday we should run them with all the visions of the throne (notice it is still on wheels). A thousand thousands ministered to Him – so let us set time apart to also worship and minister to Him. Glory to God – who is worthy and Holy and righteous! Whose judgment are good. Praise Him!
Dear Heavenly Father – As always, please open eye to see and our ears to hear what you are saying! Lord – open our understanding that we may know you and give us wisdom. Please do not let us miss out on what you want and need from us today. Lord, I pray that your word prepares us and not scares us! We forbid the works and influences of fear over your word. And please keep us and bless us and shine your face upon us and pour out grace over us and give us peace! Thank you! – In Jesus name we pray, Amen
Today’s reading is from the book of Daniel, chapters 7-8 (embedded below the image below for your convenience).
Today, at sunset, begins the Day of Atonement. As directed we have begun a reflective and repentant attitude for the New Year and have stayed humble through to Yom Kippur. Many of us will fast from sunset to sunset and complete the repentance process. Minimally for ourselves – as the process is not quite finished for the nations. Many of you reading this are in the spirit, awake – and therefore understand and have been repenting and doing this for a while. Now, others in larger numbers are finally waking up, hallelujah! Our prayers for the saints are being answered! So now, we must lead them through this repentance process. (And it is amazing how this read through the Bible in a year, chronologically, program has been with us through each of the Lord’s appointed seasons!) Bless the Lord!
A little Jewish symbolism – it is believed that based on our attitudes on Rosh Hashanah (hopeful of repentance and humility) our year is written in the Lord’s book. Then on Yom Kippur, it is sealed. I have not found book, chapter and verse to support this – but as we see in today’s opening verses as well as other places in the Bible – God has books. Our names can be written in the book of those who have eternal life and our names can be blotted out (for terrible, grievous and unforgivable sin – but let us not go there today – all I will say about it is if your heart is still soft enough to fear the unforgivable sin, then you are safe). What is written in the books that Daniel sees? Is my year laid out in blessings because I honored the sacred traditions with heart felt repentance? There is always so much we do not know.
My pastor always says there are no coincidences. Our fates for the year are possibly being seals by God and we are reading about God opening His books – no coincidences. So I must wonder what the connection is herein – or if it is just a confirmation and assuredness for the coming year that the enemy may come up against us but God has already made a way and sealed it. It cannot be touched by the enemy.
Today’s reading includes the most famous end time prophesy – so many videos on YouTube, billions of sermons on it published in this world, interpretations and fulfillments out there for you in every language. (At least it seems.) So I am not going to add to all that.
Today I want to discuss the overall point. The point of the Book of Daniel is God is still in control, it is God’s sovereignty, and it is that God is God. Yesterday we saw that God is God even when we are in captivity, even when we live in a foreign land, and even under His judgments. Today, God is God outside of our time.
Daniel was seeking God for His own time and God was downloading all the plans for all of time! And with good reason. Now we associate Daniel with end time prophesy and can now see Daniel as an example on how to live in the end times – because what was captivity to Daniel is our normal life – living in such an evil world. But through the parallels we can see an example on how to live effectively and obediently to and for God and receive blessings in the midst of difficulties.
“And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.” Joel 2:28
Daniel slipped out of time and received dreams. I always thought it would be fantastic to dream as Daniel did and to know as Daniel did. And so God blessed me with a same touch of that gifting and I am always in awe of God when He moves that way. But there is a great cost. And I wanted to point it out because God is pouring out His spirit in this time – and it may (hopefully will) be poured out on you, if it isn’t already.
“This is the end of the account. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts greatly troubled me, and my countenance changed; but I kept the matter in my heart.” Dan. 7:28
The experienced changed Daniel. It troubled him and changed his countenance. I have had a few downloads from God that left me crying for a few days. (But heck – I cry every single time I feel my God, because he is so good.) But the Lord’s messages and presence comes with a heaviness – a heartbrokenness over the lost – a responsibility and urgency and then in Daniel’s case there was nothing he could do because the events were in the future – so far in the future that the whole prophesy has not yet been fulfilled. But most of it has so we do not doubt that the rest will also be.
“And I, Daniel, fainted and was sick for days; afterward I arose and went about the king’s business. I was astonished by the vision, but no one understood it.” Dan. 8:27
“We” (the proverbial stereotypical, global “WE”) want to hear prophecy. “We” want to know the future. “We” obviously cannot handle it, yet we seek it (instead of seeking God directly). But God gives us what “we” want and “we” do not understand and the poor prophet is sick for days.
Others of us want to be the prophet – want the dreams and visions – want the deep calling… but are we ready for the physical exhaustion described during the dream and being sick for days after and having no one understand? Or like other prophets, be rejected. Yet – we say “here I am Lord, use me.” So do not be surprised when He does. AND when He does, do not be surprised if it comes with having to trust Him as you are thrown into the fire or the lion’s den.
There is a lot more in these chapters of today’s reading than just the prophecy – there is the humanity, the frailty of our being, and the inability to understand. Even Daniel had to ask for the explanation, was given it and still did not fully understand.
If you are not familiar with the prophecy look it up – it is fascinating. But do not be surprised if you do not fully understand. On the other hand, if you are familiar or even if you aren’t – look at the other elements included in the story here. They are here for a reason. Maybe just to show that Daniel really was human and not to elevate him – we are also human and it could be any one of us.
All we need is a deep and real relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ.
Do you already have a relationship with a powerful God who cares about your every need because He loves you? Did you know my God can communicate with you and protect you – He has a plan for you to prosper if you just submit to His will and let His plan play out in your life!!! God wants a relationship with you and has already made a plan for your life. He loves you so much He sent His son to this world, to die as a sacrifice for your sins and rise from death with victory over sin and the ability to have a personal relationship with you.
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10 NIV
Here is a prayer for you to pray:
Jesus, I believe you are the way, the truth, the life, and the only way to the Father. I believe you are the son of God, you came to Earth and lived. That you died on the cross as a sacrifice for my sins, and rose again so that I may be saved from my sins and be able to get to know you. I declare: Jesus, you are Lord!
Therefore, I confess that I am a sinner and I ask that you forgive me of my sins and come into my life. Help me to turn away from my sins and transform me into what you have lovingly created me to be. Help me through a real personal relationship grow and accept your will for my life – that I may live in your blessings. Please walk with me, and talk with me – I accept a relationship with you and with our Father God, through you. In the name of Jesus I pray ~ Amen

BIBLE READING: Daniel 7-8 NKJV
Vision of the Four Beasts
2 Daniel spoke, saying, “I saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the Great Sea. 3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, each different from the other. 4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings. I watched till its wings were plucked off; and it was lifted up from the earth and made to stand on two feet like a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.
5 “And suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. And they said thus to it: ‘Arise, devour much flesh!’
6 “After this I looked, and there was another, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird. The beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it.
7 “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns. 8 I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking [c]pompous words.
Vision of the Ancient of Days
9 “I watched till thrones were [d]put in place,
And the Ancient of Days was seated;
His garment was white as snow,
And the hair of His head was like pure wool.
His throne was a fiery flame,
Its wheels a burning fire;
10 A fiery stream issued
And came forth from before Him.
A thousand thousands ministered to Him;
Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him.
The [e]court was seated,
And the books were opened.
11 “I watched then because of the sound of the [f]pompous words which the horn was speaking; I watched till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.
13 “I was watching in the night visions,
And behold, One like the Son of Man,
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him.
14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
Which shall not pass away,
And His kingdom the one
Which shall not be destroyed.
Daniel’s Visions Interpreted
15 “I, Daniel, was grieved in my spirit [g]within my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. 16 I came near to one of those who stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me and made known to me the interpretation of these things: 17 ‘Those great beasts, which are four, are four [h]kings which arise out of the earth. 18 But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.’
19 “Then I wished to know the truth about the fourth beast, which was different from all the others, exceedingly dreadful, with its teeth of iron and its nails of bronze, which devoured, broke in pieces, and trampled the residue with its feet; 20 and the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up, before which three fell, namely, that horn which had eyes and a mouth which spoke [i]pompous words, whose appearance was greater than his fellows.
21 “I was watching; and the same horn was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them, 22 until the Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom.
23 “Thus he said:
‘The fourth beast shall be
A fourth kingdom on earth,
Which shall be different from all other kingdoms,
And shall devour the whole earth,
Trample it and break it in pieces.
24 The ten horns are ten kings
Who shall arise from this kingdom.
And another shall rise after them;
He shall be different from the first ones,
And shall subdue three kings.
25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High,
Shall persecute[j] the saints of the Most High,
And shall intend to change times and law.
Then the saints shall be given into his hand
For a time and times and half a time.
26 ‘But the court shall be seated,
And they shall take away his dominion,
To consume and destroy it forever.
27 Then the kingdom and dominion,
And the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven,
Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High.
His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
And all dominions shall serve and obey Him.’
28 “This is the end of the [k]account. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts greatly troubled me, and my countenance changed; but I kept the matter in my heart.”
Vision of a Ram and a Goat
8 In[l] the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me—to me, Daniel—after the one that appeared to me the first time. 2 I saw in the vision, and it so happened while I was looking, that I was in Shushan,[m] the [n]citadel, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in the vision that I was by the River Ulai. 3 Then I lifted my eyes and saw, and there, standing beside the river, was a ram which had two horns, and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher one came up last. 4 I saw the ram pushing westward, northward, and southward, so that no animal could [o]withstand him; nor was there any that could deliver from his hand, but he did according to his will and became great.
5 And as I was considering, suddenly a male goat came from the west, across the surface of the whole earth, without touching the ground; and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes. 6 Then he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing beside the river, and ran at him with furious power. 7 And I saw him confronting the ram; he was moved with rage against him, [p]attacked the ram, and broke his two horns. There was no power in the ram to withstand him, but he cast him down to the ground and trampled him; and there was no one that could deliver the ram from his hand.
8 Therefore the male goat grew very great; but when he became strong, the large horn was broken, and in place of it four notable ones came up toward the four winds of heaven. 9 And out of one of them came a little horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the Glorious Land. 10 And it grew up to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the ground, and trampled them. 11 He even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host; and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of [q]His sanctuary was cast down. 12 Because of transgression, an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast truth down to the ground. He did all this and prospered.
13 Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was speaking, “How long will the vision be, concerning the daily sacrifices and the transgression [r]of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled underfoot?”
14 And he said to me, “For two thousand three hundred [s]days; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.”
Gabriel Interprets the Vision
15 Then it happened, when I, Daniel, had seen the vision and was seeking the meaning, that suddenly there stood before me one having the appearance of a man. 16 And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of the Ulai, who called, and said, “Gabriel, make this man understand the vision.” 17 So he came near where I stood, and when he came I was afraid and fell on my face; but he said to me, “Understand, son of man, that the vision refers to the time of the end.”
18 Now, as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep with my face to the ground; but he touched me, and stood me upright. 19 And he said, “Look, I am making known to you what shall happen in the latter time of the indignation; for at the appointed time the end shall be. 20 The ram which you saw, having the two horns—they are the kings of Media and Persia. 21 And the [t]male goat is the [u]kingdom of Greece. The large horn that is between its eyes is the first king. 22 As for the broken horn and the four that stood up in its place, four kingdoms shall arise out of that nation, but not with its power.
23 “And in the latter time of their kingdom,
When the transgressors have reached their fullness,
A king shall arise,
Having fierce [v]features,
Who understands sinister schemes.
24 His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power;
He shall destroy [w]fearfully,
And shall prosper and thrive;
He shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people.
25 “Through his cunning
He shall cause deceit to prosper under his [x]rule;
And he shall exalt himself in his heart.
He shall destroy many in their prosperity.
He shall even rise against the Prince of princes;
But he shall be broken without human [y]means.
26 “And the vision of the evenings and mornings
Which was told is true;
Therefore seal up the vision,
For it refers to many days in the future.”
27 And I, Daniel, fainted and was sick for days; afterward I arose and went about the king’s business. I was [z]astonished by the vision, but no one understood it.
