The Battle that Rages

 “What do you conspire against the Lord? He will make an utter end of it. Affliction will not rise up a second time.” Nahum 1:9 NKJV

Nahum, my old friend, tell me this verse is prophetic for the year 2021. That the affliction will not rise a second time – I beg, that it is – while nations speak of another shut down, forced inoculations and mask mandates.  And like the first time, these distractions cloud our vision so we do not see the cunning and violent conspiracy against the Kingdom of God.  Wait – Don’t go! I am not speaking of modern conspiracy theory.  Hang in here with me – I promise I am not crazy! But – I did get your attention, didn’t I?

Dear Heavenly Father – As always, please open eye to see and our ears to hear what you are saying! Lord – open our understanding that we may know you and give us wisdom. Please do not let us miss out on what you want and need from us today. And please keep us and bless us and shine your face upon us and pour out grace over us and give us peace! Thank you! – In Jesus name we pray, Amen

Today’s reading is from the book of Nahum chapters 1-3 (embedded below the image below for your convenience). This book is a collection of prophetic poems that describe the fall of Assyria and it’s capitol, Nineveh (remember that from the story of Jonah?) after they took norther Israel captive which happened 100 years after Nahum prophesied it; playing out about 620 bc – Jonah preached to Nineveh during the reign of Jeroboam (786–746 BC) and obviously these people backslid into a violent mess. The Assyria in Nahum’s time were immensely violent and destructive.

In approximately 612 bc the Babylonians conquered the Assyrian armies and took Nineveh and northern Israel (as they were still captives of Assyria).

In chapter one we start off with some of the best get to know God verses out there, although it kind of focuses on his harsh side.  He is loving and tender too – we will not forget that but sometimes it is valuable to remember how mighty and how in control and how unfailing God is.  It was in grace and mercy God sent prophets (yes a few!) to warn Assyria and Nineveh and in grace and mercy He had to be true to the consequences of their actions. Although I will admit – you must really ask God to open your mind to understand the mercy and grace of His wrath.  But it is designed to teach us and pull us in to the path of righteousness.

Also chapter one doesn’t mention Assyria but references Isaiah’s language about Babylon’s fall (and the future ‘Day of the Lord’ and end time prophesy) making Nineveh’s fall and example of arrogant and violent nation’s fall if they do not turn to God and stop oppressing God’s people. Nations like Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome, Nazi Germany and a warning to the current nations oppressing the people of God – yes, this is a prophetic warning to nations in the year 2021 who oppress His people… Modern oppression is more like psychological warfare. It beats violently at our minds telling us constantly that we should question ourselves and our God – gas-lighting us in hope that we believe blatant lies without question.  Again NOT conspiracy theory – this tactic of rule over modern nations has been in place for 100s of years! It is exactly the tactics Hitler used to rise to power.

But MOREOVER, let us pray and battle against the violent conspiracy against the Kingdom of God – instead of focusing on the distraction of our selfish discomfort inside the psychological warfare of gas-lighting and masks.  You are reading a Blog about God, so I assume you have at least some knowledge of His goodness and the golden streets of heaven. So how is it being violently attacked?  You see it is spirit. The other spirit kingdoms which teach (no teach isn’t the right word – “impose” is a better word) beliefs that rail against the teaching of God. These kingdoms are rising up and trying to tear down the Lord’s Eternal Kingdom.

Let me try to explain – bear with me as I struggle to not unduly offend.  I know many LGBTQIA2S+ people. I love the people. I do not agree with their sin – but Jesus came and dined with the sinners, healed the sinners, asked the sinner to leave their sins behind and follow Him. Jesus built His Church on these same sinners. Like Christ, I love the sinners – I have sinned. I understand and I do not care what you have done. But many do not know or understand that there is an evil demonic spirit who has built a kingdom called the LGBTQ… an evil spiritual kingdom and it has an agenda which literally flies in the face of all things holy. (Again, not speaking of the people – most of whom are unaware and I love them.)   But haven’t you notice how they are making the profane into “normal & acceptable” and imposing it on all of us. It is now pervasive in our global pop culture. It is a spiritual war – an attack on the Kingdom of God, and His Righteousness! And that is just one example – Political Parties, Global Agendas, Oppressive International Organizations, etc. have become kingdoms which are rising up and attacking the Kingdom of God and righteous morals and family values and all things that lead to peace and eternal life.

Let us look at the event of yesterday alone: Global researchers claim the death toll from the shot has surpassed records and is now the deadliest vaccine in history. Israeli Cabinet approves new restrictions, considers lockdown. New York City mandates anyone eating out at a restaurant show proof of having received the shot and Governor Cuomo called for all restaurants and small businesses in New York State follow. The same New York State Governor, Cuomo, is asked to resign over his sexual harassments allegations and the outcome of the investigation which claims the victims are credible and there is proof. The USA President Biden said the US economy will crash because of the people who are not vaccinated and repeated a similar statement in a press conference about covid where he also committed to sending vaccines to other parts of the world because they are doing such a good job in the USA (where only the minority are actually vaccinated). (Can you tell the truth from the lies?)

We are under attack in a very real psychological war and the Kingdom of God is under attack in a very real spiritual war. And you wondered why I enjoyed reading chapter one with God’s harsh side defined. This is the God we need in 2021! The Jesus that turned the tables – the God who (chapter two of today’s reading) warred against the Assyrians and torn down and melted the city.

But I still have to solve the question of ‘what’s for dinner?’ and I still have to clean the house. I still have to work and make a living – therefore many are asleep and distracted by the cares of this world so that we are not praying against the psychological war against us – and not praying against the War against the Kingdom of God!

It is high time we wake up! (Romans 13:11)

It is time we draw close to God and our relationship with Him – if He pours out His wrath, you will want to be as close to Him as possible so you do not accidently get hit with it! We know His wrath is coming. We have read over and over and over again in the Old Testament – so we know His nature, His grace, His correction.  These ARE His prophesies -is this, the end times, when Jesus is returning to rapture His church? Could be!!! But if it isn’t we still know that when evil prevails like this, God’s correction always comes, and we call that correction = His Wrath!

If you do not have a relationship with Him, let me share how to begin having one. Because He loves you and wants to spare you of the wrath to come!

Do you already have a relationship with a powerful God who cares about your every need because He loves you? Did you know my God can communicate with you and protect you – He has a plan for you to prosper if you just submit to His will and let His plan play out in your life!!! God wants a relationship with you and has already made a plan for your life. He loves you so much He sent His son to this world, to die as a sacrifice for your sins and rise from death with victory over sin and the ability to have a personal relationship with you.
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10 NIV
Here is a prayer for you to pray:
Jesus, I believe you are the way, the truth, the life, and the only way to the Father. I believe you are the son of God, you came to Earth and lived. That you died on the cross as a sacrifice for my sins, and rose again so that I may be saved from my sins and be able to get to know you. I declare: Jesus, you are Lord!
Therefore, I confess that I am a sinner and I ask that you forgive me of my sins and come into my life. Help me to turn away from my sins and transform me into what you have lovingly created me to be. Help me through a real personal relationship grow and accept your will for my life – that I may live in your blessings. Please walk with me, and talk with me – I accept a relationship with you and with our Father God, through you. In the name of Jesus I pray ~ Amen

MEMORY WORK: As I promised, this year is full of memory verses that when the enemy comes up against us we can quote: It is written! Just as Jesus did when the devil tempted him.I know I have the victory and I must just stand fast and continue to submit to God… so let us memorize and quote this with authority! So as we submit, we can remind the old devil where he can go!

Matthew 18:18-19

NKJV – “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.”
NAS – “Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.”
ESV – “Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.”
AMP – “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth shall have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth shall have [already] been loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, that if two believers on earth agree [that is, are of one mind, in harmony] about anything that they ask [within the will of God], it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.”
NIV – “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will bebound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will beloosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.”

Thank you for reading.
May the God of peace keep you and bless you. May you stay focused on Christ and covered in grace.

God’s Mercy and Judgment

The [a]burden against Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.

God’s Wrath on His Enemies

God is jealous, and the Lord avenges;
The Lord avenges and is furious.
The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries,
And He reserves wrath for His enemies;
The Lord is slow to anger and great in power,
And will not at all acquit the wicked.

The Lord has His way
In the whirlwind and in the storm,
And the clouds are the dust of His feet.
He rebukes the sea and makes it dry,
And dries up all the rivers.
Bashan and Carmel wither,
And the flower of Lebanon wilts.
The mountains quake before Him,
The hills melt,
And the earth [b]heaves at His presence,
Yes, the world and all who dwell in it.

Who can stand before His indignation?
And who can endure the fierceness of His anger?
His fury is poured out like fire,
And the rocks are thrown down by Him.

The Lord is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows those who trust in Him.
But with an overflowing flood
He will make an utter end of its place,
And darkness will pursue His enemies.

What do you [c]conspire against the Lord?
He will make an utter end of it.
Affliction will not rise up a second time.
10 For while tangled like thorns,
And while drunken like drunkards,
They shall be devoured like stubble fully dried.
11 From you comes forth one
Who plots evil against the Lord,
[d]wicked counselor.

12 Thus says the Lord:

“Though they are [e]safe, and likewise many,
Yet in this manner they will be cut down
When he passes through.
Though I have afflicted you,
I will afflict you no more;
13 For now I will break off his yoke from you,
And burst your bonds apart.”

14 The Lord has given a command concerning you:
[f]“Your name shall be perpetuated no longer.
Out of the house of your gods
I will cut off the carved image and the molded image.
I will dig your grave,
For you are vile.”[g]

15 Behold, on the mountains
The feet of him who brings good tidings,
Who proclaims peace!
O Judah, keep your appointed feasts,
Perform your vows.
For the [h]wicked one shall no more pass through you;
He is utterly cut off.

The Destruction of Nineveh

He[i] who scatters has come up before your face.
Man the fort!
Watch the road!
Strengthen your flanks!
Fortify your power mightily.

For the Lord will restore the excellence of Jacob
Like the excellence of Israel,
For the emptiers have emptied them out
And ruined their vine branches.

The shields of his mighty men are made red,
The valiant men are in scarlet.
The chariots come with flaming torches
In the day of his preparation,
And [j]the spears are brandished.
The chariots rage in the streets,
They jostle one another in the broad roads;
They seem like torches,
They run like lightning.

He remembers his nobles;
They stumble in their walk;
They make haste to her walls,
And the defense is prepared.
The gates of the rivers are opened,
And the palace is dissolved.
[k]It is decreed:
She shall be led away captive,
She shall be brought up;
And her maidservants shall lead her as with the voice of doves,
Beating their breasts.

Though Nineveh of old was like a pool of water,
Now they flee away.
[l]“Halt! Halt!” they cry;
But no one turns back.
[m]Take spoil of silver!
Take spoil of gold!
There is no end of treasure,
Or wealth of every desirable prize.
10 She is empty, desolate, and waste!
The heart melts, and the knees shake;
Much pain is in every side,
And all their faces [n]are drained of color.

11 Where is the dwelling of the lions,
And the feeding place of the young lions,
Where the lion walked, the lioness and lion’s cub,
And no one made them afraid?
12 The lion tore in pieces enough for his cubs,
[o]Killed for his lionesses,
Filled his caves with prey,
And his dens with [p]flesh.

13 “Behold, I am against you,” says the Lord of hosts, “I will burn [q]your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall be heard no more.”

The Woe of Nineveh

Woe to the bloody city!
It is all full of lies and robbery.
Its [r]victim never departs.
The noise of a whip
And the noise of rattling wheels,
Of galloping horses,
Of [s]clattering chariots!
Horsemen charge with bright sword and glittering spear.
There is a multitude of slain,
A great number of bodies,
Countless corpses—
They stumble over the corpses—
Because of the multitude of [t]harlotries of the [u]seductive harlot,
The mistress of sorceries,
Who sells nations through her harlotries,
And families through her sorceries.

“Behold, I am against you,” says the Lord of hosts;
“I will lift your skirts over your face,
I will show the nations your nakedness,
And the kingdoms your shame.
I will cast abominable filth upon you,
Make you vile,[v]
And make you a spectacle.
It shall come to pass that all who look upon you
Will flee from you, and say,
‘Nineveh is laid waste!
Who will bemoan her?’
Where shall I seek comforters for you?”

Are you better than No[w] Amon
That was situated by the [x]River,
That had the waters around her,
Whose rampart was the sea,
Whose wall was the sea?
Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength,
And it was boundless;
Put and Lubim were [y]your helpers.
10 Yet she was carried away,
She went into captivity;
Her young children also were dashed to pieces
At the head of every street;
They cast lots for her honorable men,
And all her great men were bound in chains.
11 You also will be drunk;
You will be hidden;
You also will seek refuge from the enemy.

12 All your strongholds are fig trees with ripened figs:
If they are shaken,
They fall into the mouth of the eater.
13 Surely, your people in your midst are women!
The gates of your land are wide open for your enemies;
Fire shall devour the bars of your gates.

14 Draw your water for the siege!
Fortify your strongholds!
Go into the clay and tread the mortar!
Make strong the brick kiln!
15 There the fire will devour you,
The sword will cut you off;
It will eat you up like a locust.

Make yourself many—like the locust!
Make yourself many—like the swarming locusts!
16 You have multiplied your merchants more than the stars of heaven.
The locust plunders and flies away.
17 Your commanders are like swarming locusts,
And your generals like great grasshoppers,
Which camp in the hedges on a cold day;
When the sun rises they flee away,
And the place where they are is not known.

18 Your shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria;
Your nobles rest in the dust.
Your people are scattered on the mountains,
And no one gathers them.
19 Your injury has no healing,
Your wound is severe.
All who hear news of you
Will clap their hands over you,
For upon whom has not your wickedness passed continually?
