“Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14 ESV
Love. I felt the push to add a special post because in the United States today is St. Valentine’s Day and regardless of its origins, the current meaning of the holiday is to show love to the people in your life that you love. Often lovers exchange chocolates and flowers, families have “heart” themed dinners with heart shaped foods, and children exchange funny cards about friendship with candies attached.
But my push to create a special post was mostly because GOD LOVES US – and His love is greater than any love we have ever experienced before!!!
“Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4:8 ESV
God is Love. So I guess as a Christian I should celebrate a holiday that is attempting to celebrate Love – because that is God – therefore they are celebrating God and His goodness!
But sadly, many will have high hopes of feeling special and being loved, just to be disappointed and those who are single often fall into despair during this holiday. The truth is – the world does not know love because they do not know God. Therefore they cannot show you love, like they cannot show you God.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 ESV
God first loved us – God Loved us while we were yet sinners – God wants to save people from the despair of this holiday!!! God just wants to love them. If we know this loving God, we should also love these sinners and share love with them. Share God with them.
Let me challenge you today to show the love of God, to show God to others today. We are in a hurting world that needs real love. Not the kind that betrayed us, not the kind that puts us down, and not the kind that is impatient with us, is mean to us, and is arrogant and rude.
Because I love God and He loves me – I overflow with His love. If that isn’t true in your life, please talk to God about it and ask Him why. Lord, show us why we aren’t overflowing with your love. Please fill us with your love, overflowing.
Or are we already full of compromise, cares of the world, distractions – what are you full of? Where does your mind wander? What is keeping you from being filled with God and love?
“18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV
Let me testify of the LOVE of GOD!!! In the middle of a pandemic where international travel is banned for most reasons, but God said to GO to all nations, I sit in my living room in New York State of the United States of American and I write what I believe to be in obedience to God and publish as He has told me and just look at these statistics of travel to the blog:
I should get a world map and mark off each nation I have “gone to” by way of reaching them. I also need to pull up the statistic for the entire life of the blog and see how many nations have been reached!!! This is God! Glory be to God. God is good. That His love can be extended through me. Oh the grace of it all!!! Amen?! Amen!!
I pray for the workers of the harvest, Lord send those who can finish the work. I scatter seeds so send in those who can baptize and disciple. Lord, you grow the seed – IN LOVE. And that brings us back to how much God loves us!! How amazing is that?! Happy LOVE Day, everyone.
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:14 ESV
