Going Through It

“Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:10 ESV

Are you feeling so overwhelmed with everything? These are difficult times we live in – we are all going through it. Do you know who else went through difficult times?

Dear Heavenly Father – Thank you for your Word, please help us hide it in our hearts to keep us strengthened.  Please open our eyes to see and our understanding to learn more of you. – In Jesus name we pray, Amen

This week, these messages shall be shorter, as I am awaiting the arrival of some new technology! God has blessed me with a new computer! And thankfully He has also made a way for me to continue to post, albeit shorter posts than you are all used to.

We are all going through things right now. And God continues to make a way. Just like my blessing of a computer – there are blessings in store for each of us as we go through this time and stay encouraged and faithful to Him.

God has seen our afflictions, our trials, our struggles and sufferings, as, on top of it all, we are bombards with the insanity that is going on in the world. He has made a plan for us – it requires we go through it.

Then the Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. And now, behold, the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10 Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:7-10 ESV

The promise is deliverance, salvation, and a land flowing with milk and honey – our promise is deliverance, salvation and heaven! God has done it before and can do it again!

If you are familiar with the story – Moses went to the Pharaoh and said ‘Let my people go’ and Pharaoh said ‘No’.  So God sent plagues upon Egypt.  (Ironically, we are living in a time where there is a global pandemic – a plague.)

God did not spare the Israelites (God’s people). They went through it. First, Pharaoh make them work harder and beat them more! (Exodus chapter 5) And that was before the plagues began – they had to go through it.
In Exodus chapter 7 – the plagues began when water turned to blood!  Then came a plague of frogs in chapter 8 – lots and lots of frogs! And God’s people still resided in Egypt with the frogs and the Egyptians. The frogs died and then came the plague of Gnats and the plague of flies – and maggots too I assume (with all those dead frogs laying around). In the middle of all of this God’s chosen people live beside the Egyptians – they had to go through it.
Chapter 9 came with a plague on the livestock – but here there is a difference:
But the Lord will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and that of Egypt, so that no animal belonging to the Israelites will die” Exodus 9:4 NIV
God spared His people’s livestock.

Boils, hail (we had hail here last week), locust, and darkness, and the Israelites had to go through it.
The final plague was death of the first born – and God provided a way to spare His people, again! A sacrifice of a lamb would save them (as we have a lamb, aka Jesus, who was sacrificed for our sins).

Once Pharaoh let God’s people go – he chased after them and cornered them at the edge of the Red Sea, and guess what?!?! Again, God’s people had to go through it.  (God parted the sea and the Israelites walked through it.)

This year, it has felt like one thing after another (like the plagues must have felt) – but if you are a child of God, if you have a relationship with Christ, then (even though you have to also go through all of this), God has a plan. He has made a promise – if you stay the course you shall see the promise land, you shall be delivered, and you shall be saved.

If you don’t already, and today you would like to have a relationship with a God who can communicate with you and be part of your life (and protect you) – one who is full of mighty power and tender love, then please know that I have put the “A, B, C’s of Salvation” in my introduction.
