“Great are your purposes and mighty are your deeds. Your eyes are open to the ways of all mankind; you reward each person according to their conduct and as their deeds deserve.” Jeremiah 32:19 ESV
Are you feeling so overwhelmed with everything? Are you just rolling through routine and forgotten your purpose?
Dear Heavenly Father – Thank you for your Word, please help us hide it in our hearts to keep us strengthened. Please open our eyes to see and our understanding to learn more of you. – In Jesus name we pray, Amen
This week, these messages shall be shorter, as I am waiting on a blessing from the Lord which should resolve a few computer issues I was experiencing. God made a way, where I couldn’t see a way – I couldn’t see how to resolve a multitude of computer issues without spending more money than I had on a number of new devices and programs. God has resolved it in one answer. Please keep my blessing in prayer that it isn’t delayed – looks like it should arrive on Friday!
Now back to studying what we should do as we are starting to feel numb, complacent, and tired out by the cares of this word, distractions and temptations of sins which are bombarding us so fast and furiously that we are becoming easily overwhelmed. Paul’s answer is laid out in a very simple 2 step process. Step 1 is to flee these thing – run from them. Turn off the news, stay away from the wrong people, stop spending so much time on the internet scrolling mindlessly through social media posts – maybe even stop reading so many blogs! Step 2 is pursue the will of God.
Here it is in Paul’s words:
“11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony beforePontius Pilate made the good confession, 14 to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.” 1 Timothy 6:11-16 ESV
Fight the good fight – it is a battle sometimes to hold onto peace – to stand fast in the liberty of our salvation – to not give into sin and temptation – to not be worn down by the constant bombardments against us. Yea – it’s a battle sometimes. We have to fight for it. Sometimes fighting our own mind.
“But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26 ESV
It is possible to hang on, with help from God and Jesus Christ. Paul proved it in His life. Jesus said it. It doesn’t take much faith to believe it. But if you falter in faith – just do it anyway. Time after time in the Bible faith is an action. Just hang on, even in the moments when it is hard to believe. Because it is not only possible to succeed but God can also do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,” Ephesians 3:20 ESV
Even when we are here, so overwhelmed, that we do not even know what to ask. God is still doing abundantly more than we can understand. He know where we are at – He wants us to be encouraged and build endurance. We are made for such a time as this and He has a plan! Cling to your relationship with Him and He will show you the purpose He has for your life. Pursue His purpose.
If you don’t already, and today you would like to have a relationship with a God who can communicate with you and be part of your life (and protect you) – one who is full of mighty power and tender love, then please know that I have put the “A, B, C’s of Salvation” in my introduction.
