Supply My Needs (Part 2)

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NKJV

Dear Heavenly Father – Thank you Lord for your grace which you have continually wrapped us in. Thank for your providence and blessing. Please open our eyes to see you and our ears to hear from you. Wake us up, and please open our understanding. In the name of Jesus – Amen

This verse begins with the word “and” so we are trying to study all that comes before it to understand all that this verse is adding onto with that word, “and”. Yesterday we tried to begin at the beginning of the chapter but instead we began to explore why the chapter starts with the word “therefore” – what is it there for?

“Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.” Phil 4:1 NKJV
So we took a look at the end of Chapter 3 and set our priorities straight.  We learned that self-examination and ensuring God is first in our life was what the therefore was there for.
We are citizens of heaven, therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown – stand fast in the Lord!!
We have put God first in our lives, therefore stand fast in the Lord!
We have put away the things that distract us, put away the things that hinder us, put away the things that rise up and try to take the place of God in our lives – therefore stand fast in the Lord!!! Who is giving this an AMEN?!?! Glory!

Wait – this verse gets even better!!! I bet you have blown past it a million times and missed all the nuggets of encouragement.  Yesterday we saw how the Bible set up Paul as an example of being a Christian. Here in this verse we see Paul’s heart and the love of Christ pouring through him to the members of the church. If we are to apply basic reasoning to this concept of Christ’s love flowing through Paul we see a glimpse of how much Christ loves us! Paul is an example of Christ – Jesus loves us.
And Crown – We are that show piece, not just the magnificent gem in the center of it, but we are the entire crown that God loves to put on display. He loves us so much He wants all of creation to see! A crown is a symbol of glory – we are created to glorify God. Not just glorify, but become His glory.

We are called beloved – Christ longs for us (to be right with Him and to bring us to heaven as His bride) – we are His joy!!! He looks at us and is full of joy! Joy! (I am sure sometimes he is sad with me – and sometimes He outright laughs at me) but more than my child brings me joy, we bring joy to our Father in heaven and to Jesus His son.
Therefore Children of God, His beloved and longed-for… Therefore those who are the joy of the Father and His prized crown…  Therefore those who have entered into the covenant of the cross and belong to God… therefore, stand fast.  Stand fast because you know in whom you believe. Stand fast because you know how God sees you and you know who you are to our Father God. We could stay on this verse all day! Hallelujah!!  Am I the only one shouting praises – clapping for my Lord?!! Amen?!

Beloved, stand fast because He shall supply all our needs!!! Let’s continue through this chapter or we will never get to that.

I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.” Philippians 4:2 NKJV
This is another verse that is often read quickly and overlooked, but not today.  You have all heard me explain the importance of having a prayer partner – it can be your spouse or your friend.  You can have more than one.  But, make sure you are both “of the same mind in the Lord”.
I have also talked at length about searching the scriptures for the verse that goes with your situation or your prayer – and I have emphasized that the Bible is full of blessings and promises and that praying the Word of God is praying the will of God, and then guaranteeing a great big “yes” in response to your prayers. But let me talk about another reason I always ask “what is the verse?” for the prayer or situation.  It is because when I am speaking with my prayer partner and she says pray for so-n-so for healing, I may think: ‘well, that is easily treated with modern medicine and so she should just see a doctor’.  Then, if I pray with my prayer partner for it (and obviously I am not in agreement) I have robbed the prayer of all its power and taken the glory away from God.  Such a grievous sin!!! Instead – pull out a verse on healing (the Bible says it, I believe it, and that settles it!) and stand fast (Oh, sweet child of the Almighty God – STAND and don’t be moved) and put aside personal opinion. My God is doing a new thing! My God is doing an amazing thing! My God is doing a solid, good thing and nothing shall stop Him – God forbid it is me elevating my own opinions over the potential for God to get the glory! Are you following this?!
You see, there is a principal at work here – there is a reason God is so focused on us having a right relationship with Him and with others.  Because there is a power in agreeing – in being of the same mind!

“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20 NKJV

Agreement, being of one mind in the Lord (this is where that “what is the verse?” comes in – we are ‘same mind in the Lord’ if we are standing firm in His promises), this has the power to make Jesus, Himself, come and join.  This is a spiritual law that cannot be broken. If he was in the shower (do they have showers in heaven?) Jesus cannot say, hold on a minute, I’m busy. Nope – God set up this law and it must be fulfilled. Agreement – one mind – forces Jesus to come.  And NOT only to come and be there – but to ensure “it will be done for them”.  I did not say it – Jesus himself said it. It is written, therefore I believe it.  There is power in agreement, because whenever Jesus is there, miracles happen!!

So let’s read it again and make it personal:
“[Insert prayer partner’s name] and [insert your own name], be of the same mind in the Lord.” Philippians 4:2 The Personalized Version (the personalized version of the Bible is not in print and does not exist – it is solely up to us to personalize the scriptures and apply it to our lives).

While trying to read this chapter to get to the promise of God suppling all our needs – we have learned that we cannot put anything before God. We learned more about how God views us and in that truth we can stand fast and be strong in faith. We have learned that agreement is a powerful tool which causes the power of God to work!  God suppling our needs is one of the promises of God we can stand fast on when we put God first, know who we are in God’s eyes and agree in prayer.

Having a relationship with the almighty is overflowing with grace and promises. I cannot understand why or how I once tried to do it another way.  In such a time as this, everyone needs the grace to get through and a promise of being a citizen of heaven in order to have peace and power to live in this world.

If you don’t already, and today you would like to have a relationship with a God who can communicate with you and be part of your life (and protect you) – one who is full of mighty power and tender love, then please know that I have put the “A, B, C’s of Salvation” in my introduction. Supply My Needs (Part 1)

“And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.” John 1:16 ESV

Dear Heavenly Father – Thank you Lord for your grace which you have continually wrapped us in. Thank for all that you have done and are doing. Please open our eyes to see you and our ears to hear from you. Wake us up, and please open our understanding. In the name of Jesus – Amen

Grace upon grace upon grace – His grace is sufficient for me! Say it! Affirm it! Glory to God – By grace He is all I need! In His fullness – oh the grace!!!!
I’m sorry, I almost got sidetracked.

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NKJV
This verse begins with the word “and”. That means something is before it that this is attached to. So let’s jump into Paul’s message for the church at Philippi – at the beginning of chapter 4.
The first 3 verses are believed to be part of, what Bible scholars call, Letter C (or the last letter to the church at Philippi. Then beginning at verse 4 through 9, is Letter B (or the second letter). (Verses 21-23 are also thought to be Letter B.  Then verses 10 through 20 are believed to be Letter A.) This is based on the theory that the book of Philippians is made up of fragments of three different letters to the church at Philippi. If it is, or isn’t (only history knows) and it doesn’t much matter to us studying it. As the Bible proves over and over – it is alive and relevant to us today as it is, in the year 2020 – and in any future year wherein you may be reading this. God shall supply all your needs.

“Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.” Phil 4:1 NKJV
There is an old Christian saying – that when you see the word “Therefore” you should always try to find out what it is there for.  Since Philippians 4 begins with that word, our answer may be at the end of Chapter 3.  So let’s take a quick peek:

17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. 18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.” Philippians 3:17-21 NKJV

Have you ever really studied the life of Paul?  Here we are told to follow his example on how to be a Christian. I suppose we should look at this deeper at some point.  After last week’s troubles (which, of course, rolled into this week) and knowing Paul also faced many troubles – we are right where we need to be to start this study.

Verses 18 really hit a soft spot with me. Lately, I feel such an urgency. I know you are all probably tired of hearing me quote Romans 13:11 (wake up!) and my messages about not being luke warm (Revelations 3:15-17) and how it is possible to serve God and still hear him say “I never knew you” because you never did the will of God (Matthew 7:21-23).
But here in verse 18 “for many walk” “are enemies of the cross”. I pulled out the lexicon and cross references and dug in deep. Who are these many and where to they walk, how do they walk?  This is a letter to the church who has a problem with “many” who continue in sin and are false prophets.  And before you and I say – well, I am not a prophet so this isn’t for me – let us remember that included in the ‘false prophets’ are the hypocrites (fakes), the Sunday only Christians (spend their weeks caught up in the cares of this world and only serve God on Sundays), the sleeping (there eyes are still shut and their ears are deaf to the truth),the ones who are luke warm (full of compromises) and the ones refusing to do the will of God (caught up with their own plans and trying to do what is right in their own eyes). I agree with Paul – it makes me weep. I want to shake them, yell at them, stir their spirits, and set them on fire (Holy Ghost fire!)! But only our Father God can reveal to them their dire conditions. All I can do is shine the Light of the Word of God – pointing it out there for all to see.
And where do they walk? They walk among us – in our church, our friends, our love-ones, and I even know of a couple pastors whose character displays these signs (it could even be you or me if we do not diligently guard ourselves).  I do not say this in judgment, my friends. Discerning the spirit in which people walk is a Biblical principal.  Checking to make sure it is not ourselves is a vital check in – always seek God to make sure we are in His will.

Verse 19 – Paul further describes these “many” as their “god is their belly”. They are serving their own appetite (this many be food or it may be lusts and desires – their own will). Do you recall the verse – how man cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24)? Are we full of pride with our glory in our shame (or as the Good News Translations words it: they are proud of what they should be ashamed of)? Pride is such a great sin as it is the elevation of yourself instead of lifting up the name of Jesus.  And finally Paul points out that this “many” are caught up with the things of this world.  (Last week during my troubles, it was so tempting to get caught up with it. Both good and bad things of this world are tempting distractions that can keep us from our tasks.) But all of these have one thing in common – they take the place in our lives that belongs to God.  They essentially are the opposite of obeying the first 2 of the 10 commandments! I admit this can be shocking as we usually do not even realize when we elevate a thing of this world up to the position in our life that belong to our Father.

“You shall have no other gods before Me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God” Exodus 20:3-5a NKJV

Dear Father – show us if there is something in our life that we are putting first, before you. Help us tear down the high places of worshiping, serving, and following the wrong things. Once it is revealed to us, give us the grace to repent. We ask for forgiveness of it and desire to put you first in our lives. – in Jesus name we pray – Amen

If you feel ashamed or convicted – pray. That is God is drawing you closer in love.  If you feel condemned, then tell that accusing voice where to go – because there is therefore now no condemnation (Romans 8:1) – only conviction unto repentance. Be free of it!  If we choose not to repent it is clear in verse 19 – our end shall be destruction. Eternal damnation.

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.” Philippians 3:20-21 NKJV

The Bible says all we have to do is believe and confess and we shall be saved – but in such a time as this and in combinations with Paul’s teaching – is it really enough?  Yes! Because if you truly believe and repent, that will compel you to obey.  You must be in the Word of God daily to learn His will and hear His voice.

It is not enough to just say you believe – you must believe with all your heart. Believe and be transformed by His grace.  Renounce your citizenship to your country, renounce your citizenship to your causes, and renounce your citizenship to your wants, desires and self-entitlements.  You are a child of God and a citizen of heaven!

If you don’t already, and today you would like to be a citizen of heaven, and have a relationship with a God who can communicate with you and be part of your life (and protect you) – one who is full of mighty power and tender love, then please know that I have put the “A, B, C’s of Salvation” in my introduction. I know whom I believe (Part 6)

“For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” 2 Timothy 1:12 NKJV

Dear Heavenly Father – Thank you Lord for your grace which you have continually wrapped me in. Thank for your faithfulness and love. Please open our eyes to see your works and our ears to hear from you. Wake us up, and please open our understanding. Help us understand your plans for us! In the name of Jesus – Amen

I know my God. I am persuaded that He is able!!! Why?
God the Father is love – Jesus Christ the son is the way to the Father and our intercessor and His gift of His blood is our healing authority while His name is our power – the Holy Spirit was given to bring comfort and boldness and to give us the ability to walk and worship in spirit.  My God is one – one holy trinity.

I know my God and I am persuaded that
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4:8 ESV
and this love is in me, works through me, and is the love that saves the world.

I know my God and I am persuaded that He said
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” Revelations 22:13 ESV
He is the beginning and the end – He knows the beginning and the end – His plans are perfect because He has gone before us and behind us and knows the way – He has been there, He is there, He is always.

I know my God and I am persuaded that He is
“The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.” Deuteronomy 32:4 ESV
And when I need solid ground, He is there. When we need justice to abounds, He brings justice the moment we ask. He is faithful even when I am not. And he brings me back like the good shepherd does.

I know my God and I am persuaded that His faithfulness is
“In hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began” Titus 1:2 ESV
Therefore I put all my hope in Him.

I know my God and I am persuaded that
“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.” Colossians 1:16 ESV
He is my Creator, The Creator – and we were created for His glory and I will pursue that purpose in living my life for His glory.

I know my God and I am persuaded that all glory shall be given
“To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Timothy 1:17 ESV
He is The King! He cannot die. He is invisible but I see His works. He is the ONLY ONE TRUE LIVING GOD!!

I know my God and I am persuaded that
“For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them.” Deuteronomy 4:31 ESV
And that now under the new covenant of the Blood of Christ, He is still faithful to His covenant – He is merciful, will not leave us or destroy us or forget the covenant.

I know my God and I am persuaded that
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 ESV
He is in our midst as we gather in His name. He will save and He will rejoice over me and be Glad. He will quiet me and give me peace through His love. And if He exults over me with loud singing I will also raise a loud song in worship of Him! (Really, How can I not join in?!?!)

I know my God and I am persuaded that
“He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,” Hebrews 1:3 ESV
Oh Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!!! Hallelujah!!!

I know my God and I am persuaded that
“The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.” Isaiah 40:28-29 ESV

God’s Word says it – I believe it – and that settle it!!! I know in whom I believe!!! He is able to keep what I have committed to Him! What a glorious gift to be able to call My God – Father, Daddy, and Abba! To be able to have a relationship with Him, through Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit.

If you don’t already, and today you would like to have a relationship with a God who can communicate with you and be part of your life (and protect you) – one who is full of mighty power and tender love, then please know that I have put the “A, B, C’s of Salvation” in my introduction. I know whom I believe (Part 5)

Honestly, I did not want to share the troubles of this past week. Instead, I want to say – since committing my life and my all to Christ, I have been blessed abundantly and have not had any struggle. (Which would be a lie.)  But The Bible does say troubles will come, that weapons will be formed against us and that we will struggle and suffer.  I share them to testify – to tell others – that in the midst of troubles, attacks, struggles and suffering God hand is there, God is still working (even if we do not see it), and that God is still good.  It is good to know the truth – that it is sometimes hard and that even in the hard God blesses with grace sufficient to navigate it and blessings of the deep spiritual kind that people cannot see.

In the verse above – the very first part – “for this reason I also suffer these things”. I haven’t mentioned this part yet this week.  Maybe we should read the whole passage?

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, 10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” 2 Timothy 1:8-12 NKJV

Paul also had weeks (like I had) with one thing after another coming against him – Paul had a lifetime of things coming against time.  The man had persecution: thrown in prison and beaten. However, he experiences 2 shipwrecks – talk about a couple of bad days at work! Thank you Lord, that my troubles at work and troubles this week are not prison, beatings and shipwrecks! Hallelujah!  Some of the attacks against Paul were people, some were spiritual and some a combination of the two.  Paul didn’t ask God: why oh why? No. He declares boldly that for the gospel and for the glory of God – ‘for this reason I also suffer’.

Look deeper and see that word ‘also’.  The sufferings and persecution, some of these troubles, they are us sharing in the work of other Christians (or the past and present). And some are us sharing in the work of the cross.

Salvation through the cross is the new testament the new covenant. Covenants with God have always required a blood sacrifice which Jesus shed on the cross – we however are instructed to also lay down our lives. Beautiful metaphor and a blessed symbolic action as our blood is not required to enter into or abide within the salvation covenant.

Paul shares this message of sharing in Christ’s suffering in many books of the New Testament. Let us look at how clearly he lays out this idea for the Galatians:
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 ESV

Not just Paul – but Jesus also said it:
“And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” Luke 9:23 ESV
Pick up your cross – as I have posted before your family isn’t your cross, my troubles at work aren’t even my cross.  My cross is my own death – the complete denial of my wants for God’s will, the complete denial of my sinful nature for the free gift of righteousness, the complete denial of me for the opportunity to be made into a new creature and the person who our Creator intended you to be.

We are not told to actually die or literally die – we are to be a living sacrifice, sharing in the sacrifice of denial as Christ denied His own life to let prophecy be fulfilled and God’s plan to manifest.
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” Romans 12:1 ESV
Therefore we need to sacrifice to let the prophecies God spoke over us (known or unknown to you) be fulfilled and for God’s plan to manifest in our lives.

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. 10 For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
  Romans 6:1-11 ESV

Do you know in whom you believe?  When the troubles come do you seek God first, seek prayer support second, and count it joy that you can partake in the suffering of Christ?

These troubles in my life have forced me to deny actions and responses that my flesh used to have. These troubles each made me ask God for wisdom in how to respond.  They were not a surprise to God, He was already prepared. So I just needed to be read into the plan (on a need to know basis – He only tells me what I need to know).

Each of these troubles this week emptied me more of me.  And I prayed as I emptied that God fill me with more of Him, more of the infilling of the Holy Spirit! I must be emptied, because I must not respond, but Christ in me must respond for God’s glory.  I must be emptied because if I was self-reliant, then I would get the glory and not God. I must be completely God-reliant.  GOD MUST GET THE GLORY.

I am fallible and learning – I am not yet dead but must practice every day while God works on me – just as Paul said :
“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” Philippians 1:6 NKJV

If you don’t already, and today you would like to have a relationship with a God who can communicate with you and be part of your life (and protect you) – one who is full of mighty power and tender love, then please know that I have put the “A, B, C’s of Salvation” in my introduction. I know whom I believe (Part 4)

I had a crazy week full of God’s power and multiple problems, in case you haven’t been keeping up with this blog. My week started with a “no” answer from God and losing a friend. Then chaos at work with lies, accusations, and threats – which acuminated with losing a friendship with a co-worker and really bizarre behavior from management.  I still wait to see if more will come of it all.  And because the spirit world doesn’t sleep – Yes a new weapon rose to meet me, waking me from sleep (literally I received a phone call in the early morning hours before my alarm clock would have woke me).

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the LORD.” Isaiah 54:17 NKJV

At this point – as ridiculous as this week is becoming – I know in whom I believe. I know that weapons shall be formed by people and by evil spirits. I know not all attacks are of the enemy. I know I battle not against flesh and blood. I know I am a child of the King and it is my heritage that these weapons will not prosper. It is my heritage that the tongues used to accuse me shall be condemned (I have seen one of them condemned this week) and I know the others will be as well. It is Biblical law of cause and effect and God always follows the rules.  And I know I am not perfect (and anything I was responsible for I confessed and repented of) but my righteousness is from the Lord! And I do my best to be obedient to the Lord in all my ways.

For example – during this pandemic there are new regulations regarding social distancing which have been put in place.  These are the rules of our governing authorities.
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” Romans 13:1 ESV
So regardless of if I like the rules or not my son and I have complied.  We have not only complied, but we have gone above and beyond – the rules say we can get together with friends and family however we have kept our circle small and the same and do our best to limit external exposure. Yet we are both essential workers and have a percentage of risk. (If these rules ever told me to disobey God – I would disobey the rule. That is where we draw the line in my home.)

So very early Thursday morning the phone rings. My son is crying – sitting in his car in his work’s parking lot. He explained that he tried to make it through his work shift even though he felt off – like maybe he was getting sick.  Well, he quickly developed many of the symptoms of Covid-19 (or a cold, or the flu, or a sinus infection, or….) so they sent him home and pursuant to the rules, he cannot return until he has been tested for Covid-19. And per all the crazy regulations (and because I am in healthcare) I then also had to get tested.

It appeared my household was going to be without income for 2 to 10 days while waiting for test results. Big blow to our finances. (Or for longer if our tests come back positive) Of course I called for prayers and then got busy figuring out how to get tested and how to get my son tested AND medical treatment, as he was obviously sick.

I sent him to the urgent care. They tested him and said they could not treat him until they ruled out Covid-19.  They sent him home; sick, with no relief, no answers and quarantined.  I was able to get a script from my doctor and get tested at the local testing center. Now we were both quarantined.

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 NKJV

LIFE – I shall not die, but live! I cannot be destroyed so easily. Infirmity is a natural thing and it is also a spirit. Which do we suppose we are up against here in this situation.

My script was delayed getting to the center and of course anything that could go wrong did – but I stayed on top of it praying against the hindrances.  This distraction took away from my usual prayer and witnessing and daily jobs that God has assigned me – I did not even study my Bible as the whole day was a circus. If it isn’t the spirit of infirmity on my son – there was definitely a hindering spirit pulling me away from the things that should come first.

So, what is my verse? Because we all know – I always need a verse, a promise from God.  Why not keep the same one I have been clinging to all week?!

“For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” 2 Timothy 1:12 NKJV

I know my God! I know His ways aren’t our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). I know He has a plan for Good (Jeremiah 29:11). I know He loves me and hears me and comforts me and is working it out.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 NKJV

Later in the day my boss calls me and explains some rule about how since I am an essential healthcare worker and I was tested without a positive exposure I must publicly quarantine until I get test results, but I should continue to work. (Especially since in my job, I work alone and will not be in contact with anyone.) God restored my income! Praise the Lord!!!!

But the day, no the week, was full of ups and downs and whenever I was tempted to be discouraged (as we all are) I had to constantly keep reminding myself that I know whom I believe. He is able. He is able to keep me and keep my son and keep all that I have committed to Him.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17 NKJV

And God is good! Through it all He is working and shining His goodness down on me. This is why I serve the one true and living God. Have you ever seen so much of His providence, power and love in one week? Having a relationship with God through Christ Jesus is worth every moment – I cannot imagine getting through this week alone.

(Update on God’s goodness – my son’s test came back negative and he does not have Covid-19. So on Monday we will call the doctor about getting him some medicine for whatever is actually wrong. My test also came back negative.)

If you don’t already, and today you would like to have a relationship with a God who can communicate with you and be part of your life (and protect you) – one who is full of mighty power and tender love, then please know that I have put the “A, B, C’s of Salvation” in my introduction. I know whom I believe (Part 3)

I love that I am able to write these ahead of time and can come back and edit and add as the Lord finishes His lesson.  This past week was full of troubles and I was able to stand firm on who God says I am as all of my studies affirming who I am to God were being posted and encouraging me. God’s grace has been overwhelming as His hand has been all over this week, guiding me and blessing me – not with blessing of money and worldly things, but with deep indescribable spiritual lessons of His faithfulness.

On the heels of the great mixture of emotions for my “NO” answer on Sunday, I walk into my week, and immediately get emotionally smacked by lies, accusations and threats. However, I am mature enough to have this understanding:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:2 NKJV

Everything is NOT an attack of the enemy, of demons and devils.  We must process it through the word of God. It clearly defines what the enemy’s activities are and therefore we know when we are up against an evil spirit. We battle Not against people. So when we are approached with contention and we respond in love (1 Corinthians 13) and prayerfully approach them being quick to listen and slow to speak (James 1:19) – we should have great success.  When we do not have success and are drawn into a fight – then we apply this verse, and start to look to see if any of the enemy’s behaviors are evident proving it is a spiritual battle.

So I pray for the people being influenced negatively and impacting my life. Lord, help them, open their eyes and ears. Please Lord Jesus intercede for them to our Father – that they may be saved, made new and enjoy a relationship with you. Please Lord shine your light on the truth. Help me to remove them from the equation, with forgiveness, love and continued prays. – Amen.

And if those people are not the liars, accusers and ones who are threatening (as our physical eyes see), then who is?
“You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44 ESV
The devil is the liar – the father of lies.  As we see in the first part of this verse, these people who are dishonest are doing the will of their father, the devil. Lord, forgive them – they are in darkness and know not what they do. Please make a change in their lives and bring them to salvation! Amen. Again – they are just being used. The truth is that I have walked into a spiritual battle against the enemy, the devil, the father of lies and the accuser.

“Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” Revelation 12:10 NKJV

He may go before my Father God and accuse me day and night – but in the end he “has been cast down”!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE PAST TENSE OF THIS VERSE!!! Because it is written – “IT IS FINISHED”.

In response, I bow in prayer to God. Thank you Lord – as the battle belongs to you! Thank you that I get to start my week with a sweet spiritual victory in the name of Jesus and for your glory! Amen
And then I contact my prayer partner for spiritual back-up in prayer (you know – that whole pray in agreement thing – Matthew 18:19). And essentially – you know what she asked me??!! She asked me the same thing I have asked many of you and others! That is right – she basically asked: what’s the verse? What a marvelous blessing!!!!! Let’s focus! God, what is the verse?! There is always a word from the Lord and a promise to stand on! There is always!!!

Immediately God gave me this verse:
“For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” 2 Timothy 1:12 NKJV

I wrote it down and have read, prayed and affirmed it daily since. Obviously it has influenced every one of these posts this week as I went back and added it to the first one for this week and it has been in them since then. I know in whom I believe! He is able!

As the waves of this battle roll, and over and over I deal with the chaos and absurdity – handing it all over and committing it to God – the battle belongs to Him.

“And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2 Chronicles 20:15 NKJV

“Great multitude”? Yep – because while I was in the midst of this (and even though I am assured the victory we still had to work it out for a few (or more) days – a new attack comes. Yes more lies – more accusations – more and more. Including business professionals screaming at me in business settings. Including some of the most bizarre behaviors I have ever seen, except when seeing a demon cast out – those cause similar bizarre behaviors.

The week ended with peace. When Spiritual battles are squelched, the people who were puppets and used by the enemy scurry away to lay low hoping the whole thing can blow over. I keep them in prayer – God is able to transform them and change them. God put these people in a position of authority over me and God is still in control.  I am praying they aren’t provoked when the next week begins.

I share all this as a testimony to God handling it. I share so you too can identify when it is an attack from the enemy or when it is just people having a bad day. We have Bible verses that tell us which is which and other verses that are our victory.  And this one boiled down to – Do I know Him whom I believe? Why yes I do! He is able to keep what I have committed to Him. And He has kept me – and continues to keep me.  This is one of the many reasons I love Him and serve Him – and accept being His child. Like a good Daddy, He rose up behind the scenes and handled it.
My task was to trust Him, to love the people and forgive them, to pray for the people, and to let God be God!

I know whom I believe (Part 2)

“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?” James 4:4-5 NKJV

As much as there have been troubles this past week – I have stood firm on who God says I am as all of my studies affirming who I am to God were being posted and encouraging me. God’s steadiness in my life through this is worth repeating. He is so good.  He has spoken loudly and clearly to me, guiding me through this week.

Last weekend I was praying for direct and clear direction in a certain matter pertaining to a relationship in my life. God is very concerned with our relationships and how we interact with people. Forgiveness and showing love are two of His greatest commandments. I strive to forgive. I purpose to show godly love – longsuffering (and suffer for some people, I have definitely done), kind, without envy, not parading myself or puffed up, not rude, selfish, provoked or thinking evil. I don’t rejoice in sin but in truth (praying for the light of truth to shine and be revealed). I try to bear all things (often love must bear through things), believe all things, hope (how I hope) all things and endure all things (I have endured). Most of all Love doesn’t fail and I have kept it even to this day. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a)
I have struggled to show godly love and succeeded the majority of the time – even turning the other cheek (Matthew 5:38-40).  Our testimony often depends on it. People need an unfailing love that comes through us from an unfailing God.

I have a dear friend who was at a point of either obeying God (or not) on a rather serious matter in their life. Although God gives us all an abundance of grace, I have learned that there are also moment of decision where the Lord says now – or certain things will change and when (and if) you repent, those changes may mean you have missed certain blessings and/or opportunities. God has also made it clear in scriptures that we cannot be close friends with the world – and my love for my friend made this a complicated situation as my friend chooses disobedience to God and the ways of this world.  I could not know my friend’s true heart – only God can.  But I continually checked in with God and my accountability partner to ensure I stayed on the path and admittedly, it was a struggle. It was in this struggle, and not wanting to fail at showing Godly love (and longsuffering), that I cried out to God – as I did many times before. The disrespect was painful – and I cried out to God in pain. Each time in the past year, there was a word from God that clearly answered the prayer with the directions to continue to show God’s love.  To my surprise, the next morning after I prayed, the answer came and said ‘it was time to put aside that relationship with the person God is saying you need to part with’.  Wow, could God be clearer?  And the verse that was stated in association to that statement was:

“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?” James 4:4-5 NKJV

Obviously something changed inside my friend and God now considered him to be of the world.  I can guess what it was that changed and what choices were made – but it doesn’t matter. It was time for me to part ways. Situationally, it wouldn’t be hard because He picked a fight with me and that is a gentle catalyst for separation.  Would my friend understand that God doesn’t want me to continue in an association that causes pain and is unnecessarily longsuffering? This is a necessary longsuffering of love – there is also disrespectfully and blatantly taking advantage of an unfailing love and a child of God.  To which God must respond to protect His child (because it is written that He will protect His children).
Be careful not to let grace abound and provoke hard disciple or the wrath of God. Although, disciple may very well be what is needed to soften his heart again?  Thankfully God knows best and scriptures must be fulfilled.

On one hand, because of my feelings, because I chose to love and then felt love, it was a hard thing to accept. On the other hand my spirit accepted it immediately with a joyful release from the pain that continued to plague me in that association. I am free of the burdens that came with it.

As I have written before – God is able to answer, clearly and directly – and He is usually is very clear when He says “no.”  I recall another time, while readying about Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in Daniel chapter three, where the three boys said that God was able to save them –  and in verse 18:
“But even if He does not..”
And at that time I was praying and believing God for something – and God said NO. And I was challenged, if God says no – will I still serve Him like these three boys were committed to do?  God is not a genie in a bottle answering all our prayers with YES. Sometimes No is better for us in the long run. And like those three boys going through the literal fire, Jesus is with us in the fire, through the fire and forever.  I thank the Lord for how clear He always is with His “no”s – especially on bigger matters.

I praise Him and thank Him.

Sometimes we must seek Him diligently for our “yes”s as he teaches us to follow the Holy Spirit and that path sometimes isn’t as clear because we must learn how to hear the quiet voice of the Spirit. But when it is a “no” he is direct and clear. Hallelujah.

And since answers of “NO” bring me back to Daniel – let’s look again at the Prophet at the time: Jeremiah and see what God says through him:
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.” Jeremiah 29:11-14 NKJV

God knows the plans and it is up to us to trust Him. If He says No to one of our prayers – if He removes people from our lives either for a season or forever. His will is what is best. Our job is to seek Him and His will in our lives.  We should commit our lives to Him – this is the covenant that He is committed to us with these promises and we in turn commit ourselves to Him – the covenant marked in blood at the cross.

“For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” 2 Timothy 1:12 NKJV

I know in whom I believe. I Know He is able. He is able to keep me. He is able to keep what I have committed to Him – my house, my son, my life, my job, my protection, my pets, everything!!!! And I trust Him no matter who He removes from my life. Cause I have committed it all over to Him! This is our relationship – I am His and He is mine.  His goodness is worth everything.  (Ironically, as I am loosely proofreading these, uploading them to this site and scheduling – I get a tornado watch alert. It is time again to put my faith into action and trust my Father God and His plans. He is able and His grace is sufficient.)
Update – no tornadoes touched down in my city. According to reports online, they hit the town to the west and a city just north. I also see reports of hail and tornadoes all around the area. Once again – God has kept me. God has also protected my friends, family and my church.
