“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,” Acts 3:19 NKJV
Dear Heavenly Father – Thank you Lord for your grace. Thank you that you are faithful when we repent to forgive us our sins. Please speak to me and to everyone reading this as we know your word is empowering and transformative. Open our eyes, wake us up, and please open our understanding. In the name of Jesus – Amen
Grace – after the last 2 posts all that remains is grace. If not for grace we would be condemned to eternal hell-fire – but through grace we find mercy and forgiveness, conviction to repentance. Grace! Glorious grace! The kind of grace that brings all glory to God! Because if not for God, where would we be?
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Romans 8:1 KJV
First hold in your heart that all conviction is from God unto repentance and all condemnation is of the enemy to bondage to sin. Then, we can move on.
“9 He said, “Go and tell this people: “‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’ 10 Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”
11 Then I said, “For how long, Lord?”
And he answered: “Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged, 12 until the Lord has sent everyone far away and the land is utterly forsaken. 13 And though a tenth remains in the land, it will again be laid waste. But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.” Isaiah 6:9-13 NIV
This passage is repeated twice in the New Testament. In Matthew 13:15 Jesus quotes it; and in Acts 28:27 it appears again. The warning that our hearts will be hardened is for those who believe and had soft hearts full of faith and belief at one point. You see if it was already hard, it could not be hardened. It was first a warning to the Jews – and now a warning for all believers.
Jesus said, while talking of the times in which I believe we are living also reiterates this concept of the hardening of the heart:
“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” Matthew 24:12 KJV
This is why I carry on like this this week. I see so many lukewarm brothers and sisters – and my heart grieves. Wake up!!! Now is not the time to be screwing off. We have a sin problem and a heart condition!!!! Dear heavenly Father, forgive us and save us! Forgive us and save us!!! Please transform us! Help us oh Lord!!! Soften our hearts, please. If you find any hardness – reveal it to us that we may repent! Heal and restore us, oh Lord – thank you for your grace! Through the blood of Jesus we pray. Amen.
Verse 11 of Isaiah 6 – For how long?? How long with God permit sinners to have a hardened heart?? You see, through Grace some of us have Jesus revealed to us and have guarded our hearts against hardening – but the bible also speaks to the great slumber in His church and an awakening. This verse probable refers to “Jacob’s Sorrow” also known as the 7 year tribulation and salvation of the Jews. The recent Peace treaty in Israel has the prophesies in motion. But must we wait until then to have our eyes open to see? To have our ears listening? To obtain understanding? No
Paul writes to the Ephesians the way in which this curse is broken and we have and can receive the revelation. This passage is a prayer – Paul prayed it over the early churches – we should follow his example and pray it over our churches, the whole body of Christ around the world, pray it over yourself, your love ones, the prodigals, and the unbelievers. It is powerful. It is one of the passages my mother used to pray over me during all my years of hardened backslidden heart and I believe it is why I have fallen in love with studying the scriptures and why I am saved:
“16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.” Ephesians 1:16-21 KJV
As God is sending meaty messages of repentance – showing us it is a daily activity and that our righteousness is nothing more than the gift of forgiveness – it is important to search our own hearts to find any hardened areas and repent.
Or loving and faithful Father will reveal all that needs to be changed, softened, repented of and turned into what He originally intended for us. A life blessed by His protection, overflowing in His provisions – under attack? Probably – abundant provisions sometimes at the last moment? Many times. BUT none the less walking win complete obedience and surrender is greater than anything the world can offer!
Will we occasionally sin? Yes – but forgiveness is available. Will we intentionally sin and continue in sin? “God forbid” Romans 6:2a KJV
We are in a relationship with a God of mercy and grace – Who above all else loves us with an longsuffering love as we learn – none the less He is also calling us to wake up – do better – rise to a higher standard. Open our eyes and ears – flood our hearts with the understanding of Him as it is the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34)
So our hearts shall bear witness of our relationship with Him and our mouths will glorify Him in all our ways for our benefit, for the benefit of the unbelievers and moreover for the GLORY OF GOD!!
If you don’t already, and today you would like to have a relationship with a God who can communicate with you and be part of your life (and protect you) – one who is full of mighty power and tender love, then please know that I have put the “A, B, C’s of Salvation” in my introduction.
