Guarding the Mind (part 4)

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NIV
Here is another command. How do we be strong? Luckily, when we are weak, He is strong. And when we are strong, it is Him in us that makes us strong and it is all for His glory. This is grace, that He is with us always and He is working, always.

Dear Heavenly Father – Thank you for helping us be strong and courageous as we overcome our minds, thoughts and the battle against our minds. Please help everyone reading to guard their minds and hearts so you are glorified in us. Heal our minds, please oh Lord, as we meditate on these verses. Open our eyes, wake us up, and please open our understanding. In the name of Jesus – Amen

Another day to be encouraged by the scriptures!!!! Amen?! A day to say: “It is written!” Therefore I believe it and that settles it. Let me continue to challenge you to try to memorize some of these – they shall be our battle cry when the mind becomes a battle field. The words of the Lord are not fallible and never return void. I can tell you with confidence that: Jesus says…..

“But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I.” John 5:17 NLT
Memorize this and use it to guard your mind! So that when you hear that small voice that is trying to mimic the voice of God and it says: you have been serving God for a year and you look back and you are still praying the same prayers. Still praying for the same things. God hasn’t and isn’t able to answer them.
I can boldly answer in my most solid tone of voice: IT IS WRITTEN – OUR FATHER AND HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST MY LORD, ARE WORKING! Say it again out loud! IT IS WRITTEN – OUR FATHER AND HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST MY LORD, ARE WORKING! The have been, they are, and they will continue to work all things for the good of them who love Him! They have been, they are, and they continue to draw the prodigals home! They have been, they are, and they will continue to save our unsaved love ones. God’s word said it. I believe it. The demons believe also and tremble because our true and living God is powerful and loving and able – and is working!
Guard your mind with the words: IT IS WRITTEN and Holy power shall flood your mind!

Glory to God!!!! Should we continue?!?! Cause that alone has me up from my seat, with my hands raised in worship!!! OK, sitting back down – let’s move on.

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”  Mark 11:24 NIV
Back to my feet! WHATEVER!! So what if I do not have the answers to my prayers yet and it’s been a year – because I believe. I believe. I believe.
Lord Jesus, I ask you for [insert whatever] and I thank you that it is on its way! That you will be glorified in the answers to my prayers! AMEN
Do you know what makes this more powerful – When that ‘whatever’ that you are praying for is a Biblical promise taken in context, and you have the confidence that it is the will of our Father – of course it shall be answered with a yes! And it will be!!!
There are also verses that warn about praying for your own lust and fleshly desires that are bad for you. Praying for the fulfillment of your sins will sometimes be answered with a yes – then woe, the lesson follows.  Whenever my friends give a prayer request – or we think of a prayer request or even if I have one on my own – I always says: what is the verse? Where is our right to ask this? Where is our promise to stand on? Where is the verse I am going to cry out to God as I persevere in a dark moment struggling in belief: But Lord, Lord – your word says it, I believe it! Help my unbelief and hear my cry of God!!! I thank you that you always do as your word says; and it says this; and I know you are doing it!!
Because I have the verse – my faith is made strong again and I can carry on the fight. This is another battle won in our mind! Guard your mind! Guard it with scriptural promises!

For grace sake, guard your minds! So that you can stand fast in the liberty!
“For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.”  Romans 6:14 NIV
Submit to God not sin. If you cannot help a sin in your life – pray for deliverance! Heavenly father set us free! Set us free!!! We can only have one master – either it is sin that we serve or it is the one true and Holy God. Choose this day who you will serve. You cannot serve both; either bondage to death or freedom to everlasting life – zoe, God’s life! (Zoe is the Greek word for Life)

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:13-14 NIV
Notice the past tense. Notice the glorious past tense structure of this sentence!!! Our rescue is finished. Our forgiveness is finished (confess and ask forgiveness to accept it)! Our redemption is gloriously completed! Guard your minds against condemnation and guilt and shame and the enemy’s attempts to cloud your mind again with darkness. No! Do not permit it! Lord, please cleanse our minds and fill them with light and the Holy Spirit. Please fill our minds with your wisdom and be glorified! Thank you for rescuing us from the dominion of darkness! Heavenly father, forgive us of our sins – and thank you for forgiving us and redeeming us! Amen Now, my dear friends, never doubt again. We have put that fight to bed. If in the future, the enemy tries to cloud you in darkness just shout: NO!!! I am redeemed! It is written and I prayed it on today’s date! I am filled with the kingdom of light! Holy glorious light! Amen?!

“Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you.” Deuteronomy 3:22 NIV
When guarding the mind, often the enemy uses fear. We are mortal, fallible, and born of sin nature – so all too often we find ourselves afraid before we even realize fear is tempting us. Oh we of little faith (as Jesus responded to His beloved disciples when they too had the same fall into fear, before they even knew they were tempted). But as Jesus continued to love His disciples and fight for them and even built His church on them – He also loves us and fights for us and has glorious plans for us!!! This is how we guard against fear – we trust, we believe, we quote: IT IS WRITTEN THAT GOD HIMSELF WILL FIGHT FOR ME!
We have nothing to fear except God, if we choose rebellious disobedience to His word.

So, to conclude our guarding of our minds lessons – for the time being…
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:10-12 NIV
We must guard our whole self along with our mind. And what is part of the armor of God? The helmet of Salvation. And this helmet is for those who already have eternal salvation – this salvation must be moved out of our knowledge and wrapped around our head and mind! It is our authoritative covering and the beginning of guarding our minds!

There are so many more promises in the scripture to help guard our minds. If the verse you need isn’t in these posts, search the Bible and ask God for it. It’s all part of our relationship with Him.  He is faithful and just – we just need to stay full of faith that when we fail – He is always lovingly there to pick up the pieces and place us back on the path next to him.

If you don’t already, and today you would like to have a relationship with a God who can communicate with you and be part of your life (and protect you) – one who is full of mighty power and tender love, then please know that I have put the “A, B, C’s of Salvation” in my introduction.
