“In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” Ephesians 3:12 NIV
Confidence. It births a certain boldness.
“The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.” Proverbs 28:1 NIV
The righteous are as bold as a lion it says. So are we bold? I mean really BOLD. Do we know that we know that we know that we are the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus?
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”. 2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
But I am a sinner, I am a sin struggle sometimes, I am a mess – yet through the blood of Jesus and the work of the cross we are forgiven (repenting of all these things and being forgiven) and washed clean from these sins – to become the righteousness of God! And the righteous are bold and full of this confidence!
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 NIV
I use this verse often. In such a time as this we need bold prayers – confidence! Our prayers should not always be safe. Are you praying for something big?? I hope so. If you know me you know that with every prayer or prayer request, I always ask: “what’s the verse?” or “where is the verse?” I want to pray the will of God so I have the confidence the answers will be YES!
When you have the scriptural promise to stand on you can pray boldly. You can stand firm on the rock and not be shaken. You can be persistent – cause God said it, I believe it and now I pray for it! It will come.
This world needs a mighty God – a mighty God with bold followers. Can you image a king being called mighty if he has an army of wimpy, timid soldiers? If that king had a court full of people who could not advise as they couldn’t decide?? If that king had a kingdom of timid people who were too scared to speak to each other???
Put on the armor of God and be a bold soldier for the Mighty King and Lord of Lords! Read and pray that you know the will of God so you can speak with confidence, making decisions boldly in wisdom!! And testify – boldly tell others what God is doing in your life!!!
Are you bold enough to speak?!
“Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.” Ephesians 6:19-20 NIV
Are you ready to be bold enough to speak? OK, so there is a like button on this (if you are reading on the word press app – an account may be required). If you click the like button on this post – I will boldly pray this Ephesians 6:19-20 prayer over you! And please if you are reading pray it for me. Preaching the gospel is strictly prohibited at my job but I have learned that testifying what the Lord has done is permitted. I can say to my co-workers: “So ya know how I said I really needed such-n-such? Well, miraculously, this happened that ended up meeting that need! I prayed and it really happened!” And after a few of these testimonies – God is powerful and alive in me, through me, and now real to them. Are you bold enough to bend the rules and share what our Savior is doing??
Jesus saved me. Sometimes I just sit and think about how much is in those 3 words – His love, His grace – His mercy – His forgiveness – Help here on earth – a way out of trials and temptation – and maybe a crown in heaven – a mansion in heaven – and my name written in the Lambs Book of Life that I will not perish in eternal damnation! Think about it, because…
“Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.” 2 Corinthians 3:12 NIV
Yes! Think about it because it makes you bold!!! The abundant blessings and blessed hope of Christ’s return give boldness to share. It transforms us into bold, brave, daring, courageous, intrepid, audacious, gallant, valiant, unflinching, fearless, children of God.
But if God is for us, who can be against us?!
If we are filled with the spirit – walk in the spirit – know the will of God and pursue it – then when troubles come we can count it all joy and know His plans for us are to prosper and to make a future for us!
“After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.” Acts 4:31 NIV
Have you prayed for the Holy Spirit to fill you? to help you? guide you? You want to be bold? Well, we see here that the Holy Spirit filled the disciples and they were filled with boldness! This is an important step – without the filling of the Holy Spirit how can you be bold? Maybe you are a little bold but who know how exceeding abundant things will be after He fills you?!?! (By the way, many find that to be a persistent prayer – to be filled. Remember the disciples tarried there for a while waiting.)
“In the day when I cried out, You answered me, And made me bold with strength in my soul.” Psalm 138:3 NKJV
Ooooo so good – the God given Goodness!!! We cry out or ask – he answers and makes us BOLD! And did you catch that last part?? With strength in our soul!!!
Boldness comes with the Holy Spirit, but it also gives our souls strength – strength to be bold.
Sometimes our souls tire. It happens. Our spirit is willing, our flesh is submissive some days and other days it fights us all day, our bodies are slowly aging, and our soul manages to some degree, all these things. My soul has a burden for my loved ones who are not living in the fullness of what God has and is – it has a burden for those who do know even know God or know of a God but have the idea askew. Sometimes I pray in the spirit to give my soul a rest as prayers for salvation tend to be slow. So slow. But we can cry out to God to make me bold with strength in my soul! And He will strengthen and embolden me! So I can persist in my prayers for them.
“5 He also said to them: “Suppose one of you has a friend and goes to him at midnight and says to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, 6 because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I don’t have anything to offer him.’ 7 Then he will answer from inside and say, ‘Don’t bother me! The door is already locked, and my children and I have gone to bed. I can’t get up to give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, even though he won’t get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his friend’s shameless boldness, he will get up and give him as much as he needs.” Luke 11:5-8 CSB
Look at this!!! Shameless boldness!!! Persisting in asking is also a boldness!
As a child I was pretty persistent. I’d ask, and ask again. Over and over and over. Looking back, I should not have been so bold as more times than I got what I wanted, I instead got a swift smack for being a tireless brat. Bold. I was fearless without cause.
We can go to God just as fearlessly and ask every day a million times a day when we know that what we ask for is a biblical promise! And guess what? He doesn’t smack ya for it! He answers with miracles – healing, salvation, demons being cast out, and exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask and think!
Just look how Luke continues after this parable…
“9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him? ” Luke 11:9-13 CSB
Oh Lord, today I don’t want fish or an egg. I just want boldness in prayer and in my life. Continue to show me you will and fill my soul with strength – so I can be bold. Bold enough to fulfill the plans you have for me, plans to prosper and have a future! Hallelujah!
